2008 South-South Cooperation Gold award to Ambassador Nasser Abdulaziz Al-Nasser of Qatar

NaseerGroup of 77 confers the 2008 South-South Cooperation Gold award to Ambassador Nasser Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, Permanent Representative of Qatar and chairman of the UN High Level Committee on South-South Cooperation.

The Silver and Bronze awards was conferred on Kemal Dervis, Administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and chair of the UN Development Group; and Mourad Ahmia, Executive Secretary of the Office of the chairman of the Group of 77.

Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer conferred the United Nations Millennium Award 2008

Baldwin SpencerAntigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Baldwin Spencer was awarded the United Nations 2008 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Award on 26th September.

Sudan elected to chair Group of 77 and China for 2009

Image 27 September 2008: Sudan was elected to chair the Group of 77 and China (G77) at a meeting held last night on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the United Nation General Assembly.

The Group of 77 is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing states in the United Nations and aims to articulate and promote the collective economic interests and enhance the joint negotiating capacity of its member states during negotiations at the United Nations.
