Group of 77 confers the 2008 South-South Cooperation Gold award to Ambassador Nasser Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, Permanent Representative of Qatar and chairman of the UN High Level Committee on South-South Cooperation.

The Silver and Bronze awards was conferred on Kemal Dervis, Administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and chair of the UN Development Group; and Mourad Ahmia, Executive Secretary of the Office of the chairman of the Group of 77. The awards were presented by the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Winston Baldwin Spencer. Mr Spencer said he has repeatedly emphasized the importance of South-South cooperation on the development agenda. "In fact it has become a central theme-- if not my mantra-- as Chairman of the Group of 77 and China." Source: IPS News.
