Homepage: http://www.mfa.go.th Established: 1993 Description:
In 1993, the Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT- GT) launched a co-operative program to accelerate the sub-region's economic transformation. The Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT–GT) currently consists of eight provinces in southern Thailand, eight states of Peninsular Malaysia and the island of Sumatra in Indonesia (consisting of 10 provinces).

The main objective of the IMT-GT is to function as an engine of economic growth and to strengthen social and cultural ties between the nations by developing their underlying similarities and comparative advantages. The structural organs are the Meeting of Ministers, Meeting of Senior Officials, and the Working Groups and Governor’s Forum. The cooperation framework of IMT–GT has two functional mechanisms: the annual Ministerial Meeting and Senior Officials Meeting for the government sector, and the Joint Business Council for the private sector. The National Economic and Social Development Board of Thailand (NESDB) is the designated IMT-GT focal point for Thailand, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the contact point for coordination with other member countries.
|
